About Amish Furniture

The Craftsmen

Amish Furniture Showcase only offers hand-made, hardwood, heirloom quality furniture from the heart of Amish country in Ohio and Pennsylvania. This high level of craftsmanship is passed down from generation to generation. Amish furniture is not built on an assembly line or in a factory. It is built by hand without the use of electricity.

The Wood
The Amish only use the finest quality Northern hardwoods to build furniture. Most pieces are offered in Oak, Cherry, Hickory, Maple, Walnut or Quarter Sawn Oak. Oak is available in thirteen different stain options, Cherry is available in ten and Quarter Sawn Oak is available in two; toning the furniture is also an option. Maple, Hickory and Walnut are only offered in their natural color.

The Varnish
Amish furniture is sealed with two coats of catalyzed varnish. This varnish is very unique because it will resist most household chemicals, water, and some degrees of heat and cold. We recommend using a non-wax furniture polish about every six months to remove dust, fingerprints and/or any residue, or as needed. Avoid ammonia-based products or silicone oils, which may cause damage over time.

The Amish Way
Gelassenheit – Reserved, modest, simple life. The Amish believe that doing one’s work well and without complaint brings Glory to God, and not to bring attention to ones self, for that is prideful. The craftsmanship that goes into the building of each piece of furniture has the Love and Care of a person whose craft means more than just a way to make a living.
